  • Responsible for developing new software products and bringing existing capabilities to market. 
  • Web based product developed from concept, through marketing and first sale (PHP, Apache, LDAP, SSL).
  • Developed and implemented all process and procedures for IT (such as operations, change management, disaster recovery, and security).
  • Revised purchasing process to realize 40% savings in computer expenses.  Applied the process to other areas within the company to realize similar savings.
  • Reduced other IT expenses 45K/year.
  • Multiple articles on company technology in trade journals and local news, such as Computerworld, Internetworld, etc.
  • Liaison for the Buffalo Bioinformatics initiative.
  • 20K training grant received, additional grants applied for.

 

1998 – 2001 Tower Group, a FedEX Trade Networks Company

Director, Enterprise Applications Development

  • Developed the methodology, production procedures, change control (CVS), and testing capabilities (Mercury Winrunner/Loadrunner).
  • Architected and migrated all systems to a new infrastructure that supports the methodology and production service levels (network, systems, SAN/NAS storage). All systems are clustered for full fault tolerance, high availability, scalability and global load balancing (Stonebeat, Resonate, iPlanet, Veritas cluster server).
  • Recruited the entire staff of 19 persons to support the development and deployment of these new applications. Turnover 5%.
  • Projects completed: financials (Coda), data warehouse (Oracle/Seagate, MQ), web based reporting (Oracle Dev2K, ORS), cash management (Oracle Dev2K, OAS), web data access and transportation/logistics (Metaframe/NT), Extranet (Java, iPlanet, MQ, XML)
  • Implemented enterprise performance monitoring for applications, network, hardware and database systems (BMC Patrol, Netscout, HP Openview NNM). 
  • Selected new facilities and managed the move of the development group.
  • Strategic and tactical planning for all enterprise data systems. 

1997 – 1998 MCI SYSTEMHOUSE 

Project Director

  • Managed over 60 people on the team from Chase and MCI, responsible for project plan, staffing and budget.
  • Assigned specifically to fix problems on the project and bring it to completion.
  • Defined detailed requirements with clients in JAD sessions.
  • Technologies included Powerbuilder, Oracle 7.3.4, Oracle Sales Analyzer and Express.

 

Project Director

Enterprise Wide Architecture Strategy (EWAS) for a subsidiary of Swiss based Roche Holdings 

  • Led a team of 6 consultants and architects to deliver the strategy in 2 months, responsible for meeting schedule, budget, and staffing.
  • Acted as the primary interface to the client’s business and IT leadership. Facilitated JAD sessions between the team, Anderson Consulting and the client to ensure our technology recommendations supported the business drivers.
  • Because of the success of this project, MCI secured a $45 Million outsourcing contract shortly after completion.

  

1992 – 1997  MOORE RESEARCH CENTER

Manager of Electronic Commerce Development

  • Managed the development of electronic commerce applications for the corporation working with all business units, worldwide.
  • Principal technical architect/consultant for Internet/Intranet and electronic commerce applications for the corporation.
  • Managed the corporate web site, several Intranet sites, and agencies/ subcontractors .

 

Project Leader

  • Assigned to a warehouse distribution system project to bring the project back on track.  Responsible for redefining requirements, project plan and resourcing.  The project was successfully completed on time (Oracle, Novel, RF network, handhelds, scanning and Unix). 
  • Key contributor to the strategic direction of the company in the areas of electronic communications, WAN, infrastructure and customer connectivity.
  • Primary driver for the company’s first Internet presence in 1995 (Checkpoint firewall, Netscape web, news, proxy servers).

 

Sr. Research Engineer

  • Responsible for Unix and Systems administration for the research center (SUN, HP, Intergraph and SCO).
  • Installed the company’s first Frame Relay WAN, internet T1, ISDN and Checkpoint firewall. Developed internet usage policies.
  • Systems integration technical architect, including high-speed networks, storage, prepress SGI and MAC workstations, Cisco routers, Cabletron hubs and high speed digital printing systems.

 

 1986 – 1992 MISSILE SYSTEMS DIVISION, MOOG INC.

CAD/CAE/CAM Systems Analyst

  • Internal consultant to IT in the areas of engineering systems and networking. 
  • Aassigned to Moog GmbH, located in Stuttgart, Germany for 5 months to consult on applications, systems, network strategy and operational procedures.
  • Responsible for administration of desktop and mini computer systems within the Missile Systems and Space Products Divisions, including: strategic planning, vendor selection, user support, training and maintenance contracts.
  • Organized and led a cross-divisional team in selection and implementation of new CAD/CAE/CAM systems throughout the company.  The result of this effort was better intra-company communications, and higher productivity.
  • Technologies used: SUN, DEC Ultrix, SGI, PC, Apple, Computervision, Ethernet LAN.
